The Terrace – Don Corleone’s Restaurant, Dubai
I am lost,
breathe deep, into garlic bread.
look
into glistening olive puree,
hesitate
roll and crack
the fat bread stick
in my hand.
I choose linguini,
elegantly dressed in
garlic, olive oil,
spangled with red chilli.
Then, Carpaccio di Manzo.
Melting wafers of
marinated, raw beef
anointed with a delicate
cream and mustard sauce,
wearing a crown of anchovies.
The people around me become the night,
the air and the scents of my meal – Verdi.
The sounds of dashing cars
become mellifluous waves
of the sea.
